At NUS Sound and Music Computing (SMC) Lab, our annual Sound & Music Computing for Human Health & Potential (SMC4HHP) event continues to celebrate innovation through the fusion of music and AI. On Saturday, 21 September 2024, we once again brought together students, staff, and faculty for a unique seminar and concert experience.

This year, we had the honor of hosting Dr. Rachel Chen, who delivered a seminar on "Language and Music: How Humans Improvise Together." Her insights into the parallels between language and music left the audience with much to ponder. Following the seminar, we transitioned to the concert session, where members of the SMC Lab, along with students from CS4347/CS5647 Sound and Music Computing, demonstrated enhanced human creativity with frontier music AI development. The concert reaffirmed that while AI cannot replace musicians, it continues to unlock new creative possibilities. [poster] [program sheet]
